Nation Media Group (NMG) business journalist Edna Mwenda is among five journalists who won the ’30 under 30′ award in a competition organized by the International News Media Association (INMA) .

Ms. Mwenda, who reports for the Business daily, came out first in the newsroom category alongside peers including Johannes Andersen of Denmark-based media company Politiken and Cwayita Nondula of South Africa-based Africa Community Media.

“I am deeply honored to be among the top 30 under 30 winners of the INMA Awards. Since it is a global award, I can only imagine the number of applicants who tried their luck in the competition,” she says.

The other winners are Elyse Popplewell from News Corp in Australia and Nicola Wenz from ZDF Media, based in Germany.

The INMA Global Media Awards aim to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of journalism.

Ms Mwenda said the award was a big win for the Nation Media Group and herself.

Among the benefits that the winners will receive include membership in the community of global media innovators and a scholarship to attend a master class in a field of the beneficiary’s choice, which Ms Mwenda says will help them in their development professional.

An actuarial science graduate from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Ms Mwenda joined NMG through the company’s Media Lab training program in 2021.
