Africa advised to unlock potential of carbon markets

William Asiko was featured in an article by People daily advising Africa to turn to carbon markets to raise climate finance. William spoke at the first African Climate Summit, describing how carbon credits can be developed transparently and equitably. The article highlights the Rockefeller Foundation’s work with the African Carbon Markets Initiative (ACMI) to prepare and verify carbon credits for regulated markets. William explained:

“If we embrace carbon markets, carbon credits will go from a novel concept to an essential tool in the fight against climate change. They will become an engine that drives innovation, drives investment in clean technology and mobilizes essential climate finance.
