BRICS bank struggles to find South African energy projects to finance

THE New development banka financial institution established by the BRICS bloc, is struggling to find viable projects to finance as part of its $3 billion commitment to South Africa’s just energy transition initiative.

“We need bankable projects that have gone through due diligence processes and there is a shortage. » Leslie Maasdorp, chief financial officer of the NDB, said in an interview in Johannesburg. “This is the constraint we face.”
