Cassetex recognized among the top 10 digital SDG innovators at UN Headquarters

Cassetex, the pioneering AI-driven, data-driven electric vehicle battery swapping service, has been selected as one of the top ten companies in Category 2: “Planet – Innovation for our climate and environment » in the SDG digital acceleration program. In this category, Cassetex shares the limelight with global giants like Huawei, Ushahidi and AIS Thailand.

Cassetex stands out as the only Bangladeshi company to achieve this prestigious recognition in the “Planet” category. The company was presented on September 17, 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during this landmark event.

Cassetex, a pioneering company, actively contributes to achieving the SDG goals through its energy digitalization initiatives. The company offers battery as a service to the 1.5 million electric three-wheelers in operation across the country. Using cutting-edge digital tools to monitor energy production and consumption, Cassetex offers its customers safe and affordable energy solutions.

By installing more than 200,000 battery exchange points across Bangladesh, Cassetex is creating the largest battery storage infrastructure in the country. By 2026, this infrastructure should have an installed capacity of 5,760 GWh. What sets Cassetex apart is its commitment to women’s empowerment, integrated into its core activities. The infrastructure will be jointly owned by micro, small and medium enterprises, mainly managed by women micro-energy entrepreneurs. This innovative approach is expected to generate new income opportunities for more than 100,000 people across Bangladesh.

The digitalization of Cassetex’s energy activities aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 7 – Clean and Affordable Energy, Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 5 – Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and the girls. These efforts complement the national goals of the Bangladesh government, which aims to provide 40% of its energy demand through renewable energy by 2041. Cassetex is set to play a central role in achieving this goal, with projects to installation of more than 600 MW of solar panels. , reducing carbon emissions by at least 481,800 tonnes of CO2.

Mr. Gopal Kumar Mohoto, CTO and Co-Founder of Cassetex, expressed his gratitude for this remarkable recognition from SDG Digital. He said: “Digitalization is the key to effective and efficient management of renewable energy assets. We are honored to be recognized by ITU and UNDP as a global solution to achieve the SDG goals. By providing accessible renewable energy assets like Cassetex portable batteries, we open doors to more affordable energy use in transportation, agriculture and household applications. Our unique energy management platform continuously collects and monitors data from every energy asset, including batteries, chargers and energy sources such as solar panels. This data is used by generative artificial intelligence models to determine and forecast prices, energy production, consumption, maintenance needs and quality of service.

As the first Bangladeshi company with global ambitions in energy digitalization, Cassetex is gearing up to launch its tools in Africa and South Asian countries by 2025.
