Starting with seed business, in 2010, GAWAL obtained the seed license from the Nigerian National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC). In 2011, GAWAL started producing and supplying rice seeds, developing a diversified seed business based on local planting structure.

Since then, in addition to running a 2,025ha mechanized demonstration farm in Kebbi State, the company has established seven seed production cooperatives with over 5,000 smallholder farmers in Nigeria; Through training and dissemination of rice and corn seed production techniques to local farmers, he developed these farmers as outgrower producers, thereby helping them get rid of poverty and increase their income. income.

Currently, the company has an annual seed production capacity of more than 10,000 tons. From 2011 to date, GAWAL has supplied over 20,000 tonnes of quality seeds, including certified rice seeds, certified maize seeds and staple rice seeds, to Nigerian farmers in over 30 states through government programs such as the Growth Enhancement Support (GES) program, Anchor Borrowers. Program (ABP) and ABP sponsored by NIRSAL as well as the State Governments’ Direct Seed Purchase Projects.

After many years of research and development in the field of seeds, the company in 2017 successfully registered a high-yielding rice variety – GAWAL R1 in Nigeria, which has an average yield of 30 percent, higher to that of the most popular local rice variety. Due to their good quality and high yield, our seeds have been widely recognized by Nigerian governments and farmers.

In 2013, started to establish Abuja CGCOC Agricultural High-Tech Industrial Park by investing alone. Its main functions include research and development of seeds and seedlings, crop demonstration, protected horticultural farming, agricultural input and agricultural equipment sales services.

“The park is also the site of China-Aid’s Nigerian Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center project. Completed in December 2022, the Center was transferred to GAWAL for operation and management to ensure its success. The center mainly includes agricultural technology training center, agricultural technology research and service center, agricultural input and machinery exhibition center, small-scale agro-processing technology exhibition center. ladder, a power center, a water-saving photovoltaic pump irrigation system.

The agricultural technical training took place in collaboration with WAAPP (West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program). The company successfully implemented fish cage farming projects in two states and construction of biogas digesters in 12 states in Nigeria between 2014 and 2015, during which over 300 farmers and technicians were trained through classroom training and on-site demonstrations.

To strengthen agricultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Nigeria, since 2016, the company has undertaken agricultural technical training programs sponsored by the Chinese government and trained over 400 government officials from across Nigeria.

The company’s agricultural experts not only taught and shared knowledge about modern agricultural technology in areas such as seed production, rice and vegetable cultivation, seed breeding technology, plant science, soil and fertilizers, agricultural machinery and pest control.
