There’s no doubt about it, South Africa leads the way when it comes to creating incredible safari memories and exploring what must be one of the most beautiful and diverse nations in the world. Africa, even the world. So we’ve created an eight-night itinerary that combines the best of its two biggest destinations: Cape Town and the Greater Kruger National Park!

Starting in South Africa’s Mother City, you’ll stay at the beautiful and ideally located PortsWood Hotel, at the entrance to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – a wonderful harbor-adjacent development that offers shopping, dining, things to see and to be exceptional. it is also the starting point for excursions to the infamous Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner.

PortsWood is no stranger to history: its lobby and restaurant are built around a 300-year-old well and prison cells where inmates destined for Robben Island were held. With its own wellness centre, sparkling swimming pool, cocktail bar and 24-hour room service, PortsWood is ideally located in the heart of the action whilst offering easy access to a range of activities , excursions and amazing visits.

Things to do and see…

We have included some amazing excursions and day tours in our itinerary so that all you have to do is relax and enjoy the experience of discovering some of the highlights of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula and neighboring vineyards.

For example, you will take a full day tour to Cape Town which includes climbing the majestic Table Mountain (weather permitting) where you will enjoy some of the most spectacular views in South Africa, before embarking on a guided tour of the city via Signal. Hill, the colorful Bo Kaap district (formerly the Cape Malay district) and the Castle of Good Hope. You will end the day with a sunset cruise on the magnificent yacht, the Spirit of Victoria.

You will also have the opportunity to spend the day in the Cape Winelands on a guided tour, visiting some of South Africa’s most renowned wineries, where you can taste exquisite vintages and enjoy delicious cuisine. A full-day tour of the Cape Peninsula is also included, with the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach, the Chapman’s Peak scenic drive, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the Cape Point Nature Reserve, where you will have lunch with ocean view.

On the way to the desert…

After four nights at PortsWood, it’s time to venture into the wilds of South Africa in search of the Big Five: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard! After a short direct flight from Cape Town International Airport to South Africa’s safari capital of Hoedspruit (pronounced “hood-sprate”), you will be collected on arrival and transferred to the beautiful Kambaku Safari Lodge in the Timbavati Private Reserve – a part of the Greater Kruger National Park without any fence between it and this legendary reserve.

Spanning just over 148,000 acres, Timbavati is one of South Africa’s most famous private reserves, bordering Kruger Park and offers exceptional game viewing all year round. During your four-night stay at Kambaku Safari Lodge, you will be treated to morning and afternoon/evening game drives each day aboard an open safari vehicle with a qualified and experienced safari guide and tracker.
