President Macky Sall says he is confident in the victory of his heir apparent, Prime Minister Amadou Ba, in the Senegalese presidential election on February 25, thanks to the weight of the ruling Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition.
“Amadou Ba is the candidate of a majority. Certainly, his personal weight will play a role, but he leaves with the advantage that the others do not have: that of having a majority which supports him. He has the support of the president, who is a political actor. So, all of this put into the balance should help him to be able to beat his adversaries,” declared the head of state in an interview with RFI.
These parameters specify that the president of the ruling coalition makes him say that Amadou Ba can win over his opponents. “This is my conviction,” said President Sall, optimistic for the future of his coalition at the meeting of February 25, 2024.
The Head of State announced that “the election is open to all those who can compete and it will be up to the Constitutional Council, as has always been the case, to define who can compete or not. ” It’s the law. From the moment this is done, the election will be like all other previous elections,” he said.
