At least 15 civilians were killed and two others injured in a “terrorist” attack on a Catholic church during Sunday mass in northern Burkina Faso, a senior church official said.

“We draw your attention to a terrorist attack of which the Catholic community of the village of Essakane was the victim today, February 25, while they were gathered for Sunday prayer,” declared the vicar of the diocese of Dori, Jean-Pierre Sawadogo, in a press release. sent to AFP.

In Burkina Faso, around 20,000 people were killed in the violence, while more than two million were displaced.
