From the government and we share it as an update.

Notable regulatory provisions governing aviation safety in Nigeria

Following public reactions regarding the provision for the so-called presidential yacht and other budget items in the 2023 supplemental appropriation presented to the National Assembly, it is important to provide some clarification.

Firstly, we must make it clear that the administration of President Bola Tinubu respects the views of Nigerians on all matters of public interest. We therefore consider it very imperative to clear up any misconceptions and misunderstandings on these issues.

1. What was named presidential yacht in the budget is an operational naval boat with specialized security gadgets suitable for high-level operational inspection and not for use by the president. It is called presidential yacht by nomenclature due to its high-level safety features.

2. The naval boat was commissioned by the Navy during the previous administration. President Tinubu has always said that government is a continuum as it has inherited both assets and liabilities from past administrations.

3. The request for payment for the boat was part of the undertaking submitted by the Office of the Chief of Naval Staff to the Department of Defense. The total requests submitted exceeded N200 billion, of which N62 billion was approved by the President.

4. President Tinubu is focused on the security of our country and our territorial waters. The federal government, under his leadership, is investing more resources to increase economic output in our oil and gas, maritime and blue economies.

In President Tinubu, we have a leader who understands the economic challenges facing the masses. His administration is working very hard to confront and overcome these challenges. Nigerians will soon benefit from the ongoing reforms which will certainly lead to a vibrant and improved quality of life for all citizens.
