ABUJA, Sept 15 (Reuters) – Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has appointed banker Olayemi Cardoso as central bank governor, his spokesperson said on Friday.

Tinubu has sent the nomination, which includes a new management team, to the Senate for review and confirmation, spokesperson Ajuri Ngalele said in a statement.

Cardoso would replace Godwin Emefiele, who was suspended by Tinubu in June and then detained by the country’s state security agency.
