NITDA Opens Applications for Technology Accelerator Fellowship || Business Post Nigeria

The Federal Government, through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has opened applications for a technology startup accelerator scholarship program to empower Nigerians with innovative ideas.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Bosun Tijani, said preparations for the training began in August with a meeting of technology sector stakeholders to co-create innovative ways to achieve the objective.

He added that the meeting was the first in a series of ecosystem engagements aimed at ensuring that government gets the best solutions from within.

NITDA’s new initiative is part of the government’s drive to train one million Nigerians in technical skills by 2025.

President Bola Tinubu had also promised to create 1 million jobs through technology in the first 24 months of his term.

Revealing more information about the programme, NITDA said the scholarship program is organized in partnership with the Founder Institute, Abuja.

NITDA also said the scholarship aims to foster an entrepreneurial culture and drive the growth of innovation-driven startups in Nigeria.

Through this scholarship, 30 technology startups specializing in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cybersecurity, e-commerce, software, fintech, ed-tech, IoT, govtech , agritech and biotechnology will be trained.

Early-stage entrepreneurs interested in launching a technology startup in Nigeria are encouraged to apply for the program.

The scholarship will be merit-based and open to full-time innovators in the technology sector. The NITDA has listed other eligibility criteria, including:

“Applicants must have an innovation/idea suitable for AI, robotics, blockchain, e-commerce, software, fintech, education technology, Internet of Things and biotechnology, as well as than cybersecurity.

“Be available full-time and be able to devote 30 hours per week or more to this program. »

The application deadline is October 2, 2023, according to information shared by the agency.
