Since Friday February 9, 2024, Senegal has been going through new violence, but this time electoral. Since the announcement by the President of the Republic Macky SALL to suspend the decree convening the electoral body, many Senegalese have disapproved of his decision.

First, it was Dakar and its suburbs which recorded violent demonstrations for respect for the Republican calendar setting the organization of the presidential election on the date of February 25, 2024. After Dakar certain localities in the country experienced the same electoral tension born from the report of the presidential election this is the case in Saint-Louis, Thiès, Louga, Kolda and Ziguinchor.

For the particular case of Ziguinchor, the demonstrations continue throughout the day on Friday and the night of Saturday until one in the morning.

This Saturday evening, young people in Ziguinchor once again met at the Harlem field of ASC Diatir to demand the organization of the presidential election on the due date.

In this scene of intifada between demonstrators armed with stones and defense and security forces, a young man named Landing Camara was shot in the head according to a source on condition of anonymity and was immediately transported to the Ziguinchor Regional Hospital where he was admitted to the emergency room of the intensive care unit.

According to his Landing family, Camara, his real name, is 18 years old and was seriously injured by gunfire. He lost a lot of blood and eventually died.

We believe he was going to live despite his condition. But finally he gave up the ghost.

As a reminder, Landing Camara is the third victim of these demonstrations after that of the student Alpha Yoro Tounkara of the Gaston Berger University of Saint – Louis and Modou Gueye who also succumbed to his injuries after receiving a live bullet in Guinaw – Rails (a district in the suburbs of Dakar)

Today, since the start of the demonstration, young people have recorded eight (08) injuries in total, including one in serious condition.
