Seun Kutiyoungest son of the late Afrobeats pioneer Fela Kuti, made a surprise appearance at the CasablancaVictory Day“Fashion show in Paris.

He graced the runway on Day 7 of Paris Fashion Week, strutting his stuff in a piece titled Stuntman on Set that featured a white and green bodysuit with a striped flag style of blue and green hues. The singer modeled for contemporary French brand Casablanca during its “Victory Day.” Spring-Summer 2024 parade.

THE Casablanca “Victory Day” The fashion show was a collaboration between Moroccan-French designer Charaf Tajer. He wanted to honor the contribution of African soldiers, often overlooked in history books and the media. They also wanted to highlight the diversity and richness of African culture, which has influenced both their personal and professional lives.

Charaf Tajer is a Parisian fashion designer of Moroccan origin. He is a self-taught creative director and designer, having created and collaborated with brands from a young age.

For the first time, Charaf Tajer Casablanca has joined the women’s fashion calendar in Paris Fashion Week, to offer a passionate and dynamic showcase that celebrates the vitality and duality of Nigeria. Attracted by its “inexhaustible magnetism,” Tajer wanted to elevate a place he loves by reproducing its multifaceted inhabitants on a fashion week stage, dubbed “Victory Day” and held on October 1st, aka Nigeria Independence Day.

Speaking to Hypebae after the show, the creator said: “What was most important to us was really portraying the character that we met there (in Nigeria) and we fall in love but also with the overall message in general. The fact that Africa is still seen as something that doesn’t exist and for me, Africa is the future. »

Represented by rich color palettes in sunset colors, impeccable tailoring and high-octane prints, Casablanca SS24 showcase has taken the brand’s iconic styles and revived them, updating classic silhouettes like denim jackets, bamboo bags and silk shirts. Aiming to represent “mutually shared optimism,” the collection is inspired by Nigeria’s vibrant youth, revolutionary design talent and unparalleled potential.

When asked what he would like fans and attendees to take away from the showcase and collection, Tajer’s message is clear: “Africa needs its independence, that’s for sure.”

Seun Kuti is known for his outspoken opinions on social and political issues, particularly those affecting Africa. He continued his father’s musical tradition by leading his group Egypt 80, originally formed by Fela Kuti.
