Kwa-Thema – Siyajula Arise and Shine for Kwa-Thema is committed to keeping the history and legacy of Kwa-Thema alive for generations to come.

The organization was established in June with the aim of building a museum to preserve valuable heritage items such as sculptures, artworks and musical instruments of local artists and legends.

Committee member Nicholas Makhubo said they were delving into the history of Kwa-Thema and keeping the entire history of the township alive to pass it on to the next generation.

“The Kwa-Thema history book will help our students learn more about Kwa-Thema and will also help them with their research.

“Ultimately, everyone will grow and develop through our story and bring back the love and culture of reading books,” he added.

As part of their goal, they propose to build a tombstone at the Ndaba tree. The organization will host a gala dinner in honor of the Kwa Thema legends on September 28.

The ceremony will begin at the Ndaba Tree at 3:00 p.m. and continue at the Kwa-Thema Community Hall at 4:00 p.m. where certificates and portraits will be presented in honor of the legends.

On September 29, a cultural festival will take place in honor of the Kwa-Thema legends.
