South Africa sees progress in efforts to get off dirty money list

A new report from the Financial Action Task Force shows South Africa is making progress in its efforts to be removed from the global watchdog’s dirty money watch list, National Treasury said.

South Africa was placed on the gray list in February by the FATF to highlight the country’s shortcomings in combating illicit financial flows and terrorist financing. The impact is still being felt, the European Union add South Africa was moved to a high-risk group of countries in May.
