The South African corporate events industry has participated in the renowned IBTM (Incentive, Corporate, Travel, and Meetings) World, currently taking place in Barcelona, Spain. In a press release titled “South Africa’s Business Events Showcased at IBTM World 2023 in Barcelona, Spain”, it was highlighted that IBTM World, one of the largest events in the business events industry Global, organized from November 28 to 30, 2023, was presented a unique platform for engagement, connection and business relationships.
IBTM World events included educational seminars focusing on the latest industry trends and advancements. Additionally, IBTM World is vital for professionals seeking new perspectives and connections in the global business events industry.
The Team South Africa delegation was well represented by provincial tourism agencies, destination management companies, tour operators and accommodation providers. This means that the South African business events industry has been showcased in its entirety, with emphasis placed on the country’s ability to deliver world-class events.

The warmth of the South African people is always at the forefront and is evident in all our international conferences and business events. Furthermore, this warmth translates into an exceptional service philosophy, particularly evident in our tourism and hospitality sector,” Nzama added.
Nzama highlighted that the SANCB has tabled 63 proposals for international business events to be held in South Africa between 2023 and 2029 since the start of the 2023/24 financial year. These deals, totaling R1.2 billion in economic effect, “reflect our commitment to attracting significant business events that align with national government development priorities, in which tourism plays a catalytic role “.
South African exhibitors engaged with pre-agreed potential partners, associations and other representatives interested in learning more about South Africa and establishing meaningful partnerships and business opportunities.
