South Africa’s ruling party appears poised to lose overall control of the country’s second-most populous province in next year’s elections, a survey shows.

The African National Congress’ share of the vote for KwaZulu-Natal leaders would fall to 40% from 54.2% in the last vote, assuming an unchanged turnout of 66%, the Social Survey showed Research Foundation sent to Bloomberg. The Inkatha Freedom Party would increase its support to 26%, from 16.3%, while the Democratic Alliance would get 18%, from 13.9%. The share of economic freedom fighters would decrease from 9.7% to 6%.
