The tech giant ends its decade electric car project, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter. In response to the news, the CEO of Tesla posted a greeting face and a cigarette emoji in a Message Tuesday.

“The natural state of an automaker is dead,” Musk wrote in another job Tuesday.

Many employees involved in the car project will now be moved to the company’s AI division, but there could be layoffs among Apple’s car engineers and designers, according to Bloomberg.

“It’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smart watches,” Musk told the German newspaper. Handelsblatt newspaper. “You can’t just go to a supplier like Foxconn and say, ‘Build me a car.'”

Musk even jokingly referred to Apple as the “Tesla graveyard” in the same interview.

“If you don’t succeed at Tesla, you go to work at Apple. I’m not kidding,” Musk told Handelsblatt.

Representatives for Apple and Elon Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside of normal business hours.
