When visiting the park, it is wise to make the most of the experience. Here are some tips for a perfect safari in Kruger National Park.

Be prepared to be an early riser

For the best sightings, you will need to get up very early in the morning. Make sure you don’t sleep late. Many animals are more active in the morning because the sun becomes too hot for them during the day. So, attempting to go on safari when the sun is at its hottest will only yield unsatisfactory results.

Bring your binoculars

A good pair of binoculars will enhance your safari experience. Although your guide will probably have two, they will need them to spot the animals for you. So, bringing your own pair will be handy for spotting animals in the distance.

Always be safe

Do not try to attract the attention of animals by trying to bring them closer to you or by feeding them. Ultimately, they are wild animals and feeding them is dangerous. This is also against park rules.

Listen to your guide

The guides are trained and know how to detect signs of irritation or fear in animals. It is therefore important to respect them and listen to their instructions.

Set realistic expectations

While it’s good to be optimistic, be realistic and understand that you may not spot all the animals you would like to see.

Unlike a zoo where the animals are caged, there is never a guarantee of when and where each animal can be spotted. They move around the park to hunt prey, feed their young, and go about their daily business in the animal kingdom.

To ask questions

Do not hesitate to ask questions. This will help you learn about the different animals and expand your knowledge about the bush and its events. Plus, asking questions enriches your safari experience. Plus, your guide will be happy to share information with you.
