Wema Bank announced the launch of Hackaholics Digital Summit 2023, a gathering of innovators, disruptors, regulators, policymakers, investors and customers in the digital space.

This summit will serve as a platform for sharing cutting-edge information, trends and best practices in the technology industry towards positive transformation of technology and innovation, not only in Nigeria but across the country. African continent.

In 2019, Wema Bank presented Hackaholics, an initiative targeting young people and startups. Its mission is to provide a stage for entrepreneurs and innovators with transformative, technology-driven concepts to realize their ideas and hone their skills. The 4th edition of Hackaholics, launched in April 2023, involved a multi-month journey to top Nigerian universities to identify and nurture talented students with creative ideas.

These students had the opportunity to collaborate, improve their skills, and bring their unique concepts to life through technology. The Hackaholics Digital Summit will host both the Hackaholics 4.0 Grand Finale and the inaugural edition of the Digital Summit.

The Hackaholics Digital Summit 2023 is scheduled for October 6, 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria, under the theme “Re-Imagine: Disrupting the Ecosystem at Scale”. This multi-faceted event begins with the launch of the Hackaholics Digital Summit and ends with the Hackaholics 4.0 Grand Finale. During this event, the most notable teams of the competition will present their innovations, competing for the prestigious titles of Hackaholics 4.0 winners.

Notably, the winning team will receive a grant of N10,000,000 worth of prizes, the first runner-up worth N7,000,000 worth of prizes, the second runner-up worth N5,000,000 worth of prizes, while a special grant of N3,000,000 is reserved. exclusively for a team led by women. Additionally, a grant of N15,000,000 will be allocated towards the university STEM endowment.

The Digital Summit will further include a series of concurrent master classes, providing participants the opportunity to witness the emergence of Africa’s technological future while gaining invaluable insights from renowned experts. These masterclasses will cover topics such as “The Future of Financial Services”, “Venture Capital and Funding Viable Innovation at Scale” and “Strategic Technology for Impact and Societal Change: Transforming the World of today and tomorrow.”
