KHOBAR: Business France recently organized the “French Saudi Maritime Days” conference in Alkhobar, under the patronage of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Business France’s mission is to promote the growth of exports and facilitate international investments in France.

Discussions on the contribution of French companies to the transformation of Saudi Arabia into a logistics platform between Asia, Africa and Europe as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 took place during the conference.

Ludovic Pouille, the French Ambassador to the Kingdom, inaugurated the event and said that relations between the Kingdom and France were historic and expanding to cover all sectors.

He added: “France is a global maritime player in the 21st century. It is present on the oceans and we are the second maritime power in the world.

“We care about everything related to marine environments and we want to promote innovative blue growth.

“We can be stronger, smarter and also greener. We wish to further strengthen our investments with our Saudi partners and increase our shared cooperation for the benefit of our two countries.

“This event allows us to capitalize on this alignment by taking proactive steps to foster strong and sustainable commercial cooperation in order to also strengthen French-Saudi relations in this area.

“This maritime conference will also contribute to positioning French companies as major players on three continents (Asia, Europe and Africa). »

Saudi ports are currently among the fastest in the world in terms of handling goods, with increasing capacity, Mawani President Omar Hariri said.

Jesper Stenbak, Managing Director of the Dubai regional office of the shipping company CMA CGM, said: “The Franco-Saudi Maritime Days constitute an excellent opportunity for the CMA CGM Group to interact with official authorities and industrial players in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. ‘Saudi Arabia.
