Zimbabwe’s Parks and Wildlife

Who we are

Responsible for the protection, management and administration of Zimbabwe’s wildlife, the Parks & Wildlife Management Authority has prided itself on good conservation management since 1975.

Zimbabwe’s rich biodiversity provides refuge for many species of flora and fauna to survive and thrive.

Given the considerable and extensive resources under our leadership, this responsibility cannot be met in isolation. Our network of protected areas, nature reserves and cross-border parks ensures we share the burden. Especially, Transboundary conservation areas promote collaboration with Zimbabwe’s neighbors to combat international wildlife crime, promote tourism and preserve the common heritage, which itself knows no borders.

However, our success comes at a price. The proliferation of wild populations and subsequent encroachment on human habitats puts pressure on scarce resources, with potentially deadly consequences. Our engagement with affected communities ensures that we minimize loss of life and livelihood and promote coexistence between man and beast.
“In harmony with nature”.

What drives us is the conviction that the obligation of this generation is not only to preserve inherited natural treasures, but also to protect them for the benefit and enjoyment of those who follow. More about Zimbabwe Parks
