Sossusvlei is the iconic image of Namibia: a sea of imposing red sand dunes stretching as far as the eye can see, rising 300 m high above ancient salt and clay marshes dotted with thorn trees. long dead camels. Located in private Kwedi Concession – a vast wild territory of 90,000 ha north of the delta – Vumbura Plains has become synonymous with exceptional game viewing and the unique spirit of the Okavango, with its lush lagoons and winding canals providing refuge for wildlife.
Matt managed to encapsulate everything that makes this part of the Okavango so special, from the beautiful, soft late afternoon light dancing on the surface of the water to the slow movement of a elephant through the shallows, the sunlight transforming its tusks into pale golden stalks.
