Nearly three (3) weeks before the 2023 African Cup of Nations (CAN) Côte d’Ivoire to be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has published the list of referees ahead officer during this competition.

Among the 26 main referees who appear on this list, there is only one Senegalese. This is Issa Sy. Selected during the U17 World Cup, the Senegalese referee will therefore participate in the CAN.

What about assistant referees? 30 referees were selected, including two Senegalese. They are Nouha Bangoura and Djibril Camara. On the other hand, no Senegalese referee appears in the list of 12 VAR referees.

The other remark is the presence of five women in this list: the Rwandan Salima Radhia Mukansanga, the Cameroonian Carine Atezambong, the Moroccan Karboubi Bouchra, the Zambian Diana Chicotesha and the Mauritanian Rivet Maria Pakuita Cinquela.
