The Senegalese Democratic Party considers that Karim Wade has been facing political-judicial injustices for almost a decade. Faced with this decision of the Constitutional Council, the liberal party challenges the credibility of the 7 wise men to say that the election will not be held without the participation of their candidate. On this, the PDS calls on its activists to mobilize to actively prepare for the imminent return of Karim Wade.

“This unprecedented situation undermines our democracy and the integrity of the next review. We demand that President Macky SALL take immediate measures to overcome this crisis, in particular by dismissing Prime Minister Amadou BA, who is using his power to manipulate the election and eliminate candidates. For more than a decade, Karim WADE has faced constant political-judicial plots. Unjustly imprisoned and forcibly exiled, his fundamental rights were violated,” denounced the party of Me Abdoulaye Wade during a press briefing.

Continuing, the PDS emphasizes that this new exclusion from the Constitutional Council constitutes an additional violation of its rights as a Senegalese citizen. “This is the second time that Karim WADE has been arbitrarily prevented from participating in a presidential election. The PDS and the K24 Coalition now refuse any attack on the rights of their candidate.”

“We contest the current credibility of the Constitutional Council and its inability to guarantee credible democratic elections. This umpteenth political plot against Karim WADE will not pass and the election will not be held without his participation,” declared the PDS through the representative of the K24 coalition, Magatte Sy.

The Senegalese Democratic Party calls on its activists to mobilize to actively prepare for the “imminent return of Karim Wade to be ready to fight to reinstate Karim WADE in the list of candidates for the presidential election; to demand the dissolution of the Constitutional Council and to prepare for resistance to put an end to this crime Karim WADE”.
